Sometimes You Just Have To Ask

Chris and I don’t often date. We have had a sleepover since 2002, but rarely do we make the time to steal away together.

When we do, we rent a little slice of heaven on Charleston Lake. I had called back in May to book a summer weekend away, but they were full right through until September. I had missed our chance.

Last week I had the itch. I took a shot and made the call. They were still booked, but happy to add us to a cancellation list.

No word of a lie, the very next day they phoned me. Our cottage had just become available. A few quick texts and I had everything covered – farm chores, house sitter and someone to mind the kids. We packed up the truck and boat and hit the road not 24 hours later.

I have learned in my life, even though sometimes things seem set in stone, nothing ever is. All you want in life is waiting for you, it just comes in different ways. Sometimes it lands in your lap, and when it doesn’t, sometimes you just have to ask.
